Shirvan

A hand-knotted Shirvan rug, woven in the Caucasus region and celebrated for its bold geometric patterns, rich colours, and distinctive tribal craftsmanship. This striking piece features a dark field decorated with four large geometric medallions arranged vertically, each displaying intricate symbolic motifs in shades of terracotta, ivory, muted green, gold, and deep red.

The central field is filled with traditional geometric and stylised tribal motifs, creating a wonderfully detailed and balanced composition. A wide ivory border featuring repeating geometric forms frames the design beautifully, complemented by several narrower guard borders in deep red and dark tones that add further depth and definition.

Handwoven from high-quality wool using traditional techniques, the rug displays the strong graphic character and craftsmanship associated with fine Caucasian weaving. Presented in very good condition, its long proportions make it an excellent choice for a hallway, entrance hall, drawing room, or as a distinctive decorative statement piece.
