Khamsey

A hand-knotted Khamseh rug, woven by the Khamseh tribal confederation of southern Persia. Khamseh rugs are highly regarded for their bold geometric patterns, rich natural colours, and distinctive tribal character, making them sought after by collectors of authentic Persian village weavings.

This example features a striking series of ivory geometric medallions set against a deep navy field, surrounded by an abundance of stylised tribal motifs, animals, and floral elements. The rich border in shades of terracotta, navy, and soft blue frames the design beautifully, creating a lively yet balanced composition full of traditional Persian symbolism.

Offered in very good condition, the rug has a healthy wool pile and only light signs of use consistent with its age. A genuine tribal weaving with plenty of character, ideal for adding warmth and individuality to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
